About After Someone Dies

We help families write an obituary, then find the will, life insurance and money that are easy to miss.

When someone dies, the funeral comes first. Then a stack of questions arrives. Was there a will? Did they have life insurance? Is money sitting with a state or an old employer? The answers are usually out there, but they're scattered across dozens of offices.

We put those steps in one place and check them against official sources. The obituary writer and checklist are free. You pay only if you want the letters, tracker and storage, or if you want us to do the searching.

What we are

We're a small paperwork service, and we run in your browser, with no app to download. We aren't a law firm, an insurance company or a funeral home.

Who runs it

After Someone Dies is a one-person company. The person who runs it reads the messages and works the Search Service cases. It's the sister service of Plan Before You Die, which helps people get their own affairs ready.

What we won't do

  • Take a share of what your family recovers.
  • Sell your data or show you targeted ads.
  • Promise that a will, policy or money exists.
  • Contact you by phone unless you ask us to.
