How we protect your information
You may be adding sensitive family papers, so here's what we do and what we ask of you.
What we do
- Encrypted connections. Every page and upload uses HTTPS.
- Encrypted documents. Each stored copy is encrypted with AES-256-GCM before it's written, with a key kept apart from the files.
- Sign-in without passwords. We email you a short-lived code. You can add a two-step code from an authenticator app in Settings.
- Limited access. Our admin tools don't show a Search Kit's papers or letters. Team members can work in a search only when you bought the Search Service, and that work is logged.
- No browser tracking for ads. The site has no ad trackers, and scripts load only from our own domain.
- No app to install. It runs in your browser, on any device.
What we ask of you
- Don't enter Social Security numbers or full account numbers.
- Keep original documents somewhere safe. Courts often need the original.
- Invite only people you trust with the papers.
What we can't promise
No system is perfectly secure. If something goes wrong with your data, we'll tell you what happened and what to do, as the law requires.
