Federal lists

Benefits held by PBGC

Search for unclaimed benefits that PBGC holds after a private-sector retirement plan ended.

A match does not confirm a benefit. PBGC requires more identifying checks.

Failed bank funds

Search specified unclaimed deposits and distributions from failed insured financial institutions.

FDIC explains that unclaimed deposit accounts transfer to the state after 18 months. Check state programs too. Follow the FDIC claim instructions if the name and institution match your funds.

Closed credit union shares

Review unclaimed share accounts from liquidated federally insured credit unions.

NCUA requires member verification to confirm a listed person. Shares claimed within the 18-month insurance period receive the full insured amount. Afterwards shares are uninsured and payment may be pro rata, depending on available funds.

FHA mortgage insurance refunds

If you had an FHA-insured mortgage, review HUD guidance about a possible refund.

Read the access restriction before using the system. It covers owners or authorized agents requesting a premium refund for a previously owned FHA property who received HUD form 27050-B directly within 180 days, and agents with express written consent for the qualified owner. HUD says to call 1-800-697-6967 if your name appears or you believe a missing name should have a refund.

Bankruptcy court funds

Search the U.S. Courts locator for bankruptcy unclaimed funds.

Each court maintains its own search information and claim procedures. Contact the court linked from the result.

Back wages held by Labor

Search for back wages already collected and held by the Labor Department.

If Labor cannot find the worker after three years, it sends the money to the U.S. Treasury.

VA insurance funds

Search for certain unclaimed VA insurance funds owed to current or former policyholders or beneficiaries.

The search excludes SGLI and VGLI policies from 1965 onward. A same-name result may belong to someone else. VA checks additional identifying information before release.

Lost paper savings bonds

Read Treasury guidance for a lost, stolen, destroyed, damaged or never-received paper EE or I savings bond.

Treasury requires FS Form 1048 to request replacement or payment for an EE or I bond. Follow its guidance on the official site. Treasury Hunt is no longer available. Treasury points suspected lost savings-bond claims to its forms guidance.

SEC enforcement distributions

Review certain SEC enforcement cases that may distribute recovered funds to harmed investors.

This list excludes distributions handled by a receiver. Follow the instructions for the particular case.

Individual Indian Money accounts

Native American and Alaska Native beneficiaries can review Interior unclaimed Individual Indian Money account information.

The Whereabouts Unknown search accepts a name, Tribe or both. If you find your name, contact Interior about claiming the account.
