Privacy policy
Last updated November 6, 2026.
In plain words
- What we keep. Your email, what you save in your account and your payment records.
- What we never collect. Social Security numbers, card numbers or passwords. We ask you not to enter full account numbers, and we hide long ones.
- Who can see your search. You and people you invite. Our team opens a search only for a Search Service you bought, or when you ask us to help.
- We don't sell data. No ads, and no selling or sharing for advertising.
Who is responsible
This service is run by ז׳ואאו אשוטי, a sole trader trading as After Someone Dies. Contact hello@aftersomeonedies.app.
What we collect
- Account details. Email, and any name, phone, address and state you add.
- Obituary answers. What you type in the questionnaire. If you don't save it, we don't store it on our servers, and the answers stay in your browser until you close the tab.
- Search details. Names, dates, places, employers, notes, findings, letters and document copies that you add.
- Payment records. The amount, date and product. Stripe handles the card itself, and we don't see the number.
- Messages. What you send us, and our replies.
- Basic site data. The first page you opened, where you came from and simple events, like finishing a draft. We don't use advertising cookies. Security logs include IP addresses.
How we use it
- To write your drafts, fill in your letters and run your account.
- To send sign-in codes, receipts, reminders you turned on and answers to your messages.
- To keep the service secure and fix problems.
- If you agreed, to send a small number of follow-up notes, including one about Plan Before You Die. Every one has an unsubscribe link.
How automated tools process your text
When you ask for drafts, your obituary answers are sent to Cloudflare Workers AI to write them and check them against your answers. If that isn't available, our built-in templates write the drafts. Messages you send us may also be processed by Cloudflare Workers AI to sort them and suggest a reply. A person reads and edits every reply. Cloudflare says it doesn't use this text to train models or keep it after the request.
Who we share it with
We share data only with the companies that run the service for us, when the law requires it, or if the business is sold, and then only under this policy.
- Cloudflare. Hosting, database, file storage, email, writing obituary drafts and sorting messages with Workers AI.
- Stripe. Payments.
How we protect it
Connections use HTTPS. Stored document copies are encrypted with a key kept apart from the files. See Security.
How long we keep it
- Your account and searches, until you delete them.
- Payment records, as long as tax and accounting rules require.
- Sign-in codes, for minutes. Security logs, for a limited time.
Your choices
- Download your data from Settings.
- Change your details whenever you like.
- Delete your account, which erases your searches and stored papers.
- Unsubscribe from any follow-up note.
- U.S. state privacy laws may give you more rights. Write to hello@aftersomeonedies.app and we'll help.
Information about someone who died
You may add details about a person who has died and about family members. Add only what you need for the search.
Children
This service is for adults 18 and over.
Connector for AI assistants
We offer a read-only connector at /mcp that gives public facts about rules and steps. It doesn't touch accounts or any private data.
Changes
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we'll post it here and tell account holders by email.
