Write an obituary for your father

We're sorry. Here are a few things that help, and an example you can borrow from.

What helps

  • Short facts can say a lot. Where he worked, how long, and what he could fix may be enough.
  • If he served, ask for the branch and years from his papers, and use only what you can confirm.
  • A funny detail is welcome if he would have laughed at it too.

An example

Walter Brandt, 86, of Green Bay, died on January 19. He worked 41 years at the paper mill, served in the Army and could fix any lawn mower in Brown County, whether you asked or not.

He is survived by his wife, June; his sons, Karl and Dean; and five grandchildren. Services are Saturday at 10 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church.

This person is made up. Their details are only an example.
