After a death in Arkansas
Where to look for a will, who to ask and where to search for money in Arkansas.
The will
Which court handles probate

What to do with the original will
A person who has custody of a will must deliver it to the court that has jurisdiction of the estate after the testator dies. The statute text found states no number of days. Willful refusal after a court order is contempt and makes the holder liable for damages.
"the person having custody of his or her will shall deliver it to the court which has jurisdiction of the estate."
Ark. Code § 28-40-105. Read the source (an unofficial copy of the law).
Wills deposited during life
Yes. A living person may deposit a will, sealed, with the circuit court clerk of the county where they live; the clerk issues a certificate of deposit (fee stated in statute). After death the clerk gives the will to the person named on the wrapper who asks for it with ID, or if no one collects it the court opens it publicly within 30 days after notice of death. A family can ask that county's circuit clerk.
"with the circuit court of the county of his or her residence"
Ark. Code § 28-25-108. Read the source (an unofficial copy of the law).
